Purchase Order & Requisition Approval via BlackBerry

Customer:  A NASDAQ listed specialty pharmaceutical company engaged in the research, development, sales and marketing of prescription pharmaceuticals.

Requirement:  The key objective is to ensure a timely response to Purchase Order and Purchase Requisition requests using BlackBerry devices, and as such ensure a truly mobile workforce.  The technical objectives included the ability to utilize the application when out of network coverage, and automatically synchronize data to and from SAP while the device is in back in range, ensuring both SAP and the BlackBerry are kept up to date.  

Solution:  The SkyMobile Workflow Approval application enables business processes to be executed onto a BlackBerry with seamless integration to SAP, processed in the background without user intervention.  The application was developed and ready for deployment in weeks, not months, with the final solution easily rolled out to the 200 users using "over the air" deployment via the BES.  Subsequent application updates are synchronized directly to the BlackBerry from SAP.  The SkyMobile intelligent client allows end users to continue to operate when out of network coverage, as the application and data are resident on the device.  Synchronization occurs in the background when a network connection is re-established.
