Vechicle Scheduling & Proof of Delivery
Customer:
Orica Chemnet:
A division of Orica Limited, a global publicly owned Australian
chemical company which employs some 13,000 staff across
approximately 50 countries. Through its subsidiaries, Orica Chemnet
manufactures and supplies industrial and speciality chemicals,
explosives and mining chemicals, paints and other consumer
products. Chemnet is Orica’s chemical trading solutions business.
Chemnet supplies all sources across a diverse market such as own
manufacture, external manufacture and additionally as a distributor
or agent.
Requirement: The Proof of Delivery system
previously utilised by Orica Chemnet was paper based and required
delivery drivers to handwrite information on pre-printed A4
dockets, capturing the customer’s signature where available. The
completed dockets were then returned to the office for data entry
and subsequent invoicing. The project was an extremely
collaborative one with Sky Technologies Consulting and Orica
working closely together to understand Orica’s business
processes.
Solution: The desired system was required to deliver
real-time information on delivery status back to the dispatch
office, with all completed loads then sent to SAP® for automatic
processing. The system was also required to eliminate the need for
staff to recheck data, avoid keying errors and late data entry,
whilst simultaneously providing the benefits of real-time product
and customer status. Orica Chemnet chose Sky Technologies
Consulting’s Proof of Delivery Solution, which uses the Sky
Technologies SkyMobile Business Framework to deliver a real
business solution.

RF Enabled Warehouse Management

(In conjunction with our UK partner, iQlink www.iqlink.co.uk)
Customer: Princes Limited. Operating across
40 countries, Princes are the UK’s leading importer of canned food
and one of the country’s largest soft drinks manufacturers.
They manufacture across nine production sites in the UK, supplying
own brand juices, drinks and oils to many of the country’s leading
supermarkets.
Requirement: Implementation of a full barcode
warehouse solution at Princes’ distribution warehouse in Trafford
Park, Manchester. Princes were keen to automate the
warehouse and link stock and distribution information to their SAP
system through the use of RF bar code readers which would help
avoid errors, improve the efficiency of the warehouse and provide
essential information to the rest of the business. Princes wanted
to keep the project as simple and practical as possible, with rapid
deployment and minimal disruption to the business and to meet tight
implementation time scales with minimum risk.
Solution: Following a smooth implementation of
SkyMobile the application enables warehouse staff to scan
barcodes on pallet labels and confirm inventory movement
transactions in the SAP Inventory Management and Warehouse
Management modules. Embedded process simplification has
enabled the automation of 5 necessary SAP transactions to a single
step on the barcode reader, thus saving staff time, reducing
inventory booking errors and providing essential information to the
rest of the business.
“It has simplified the process, improved stock accuracy, and
empowered the users so that they no longer have to return to the
office to report errors. Most importantly it is easy to use”,
Rod Curtis, Stock First Line Manager at the warehouse.

Purchase Order and Purchase
Requisition Approval via BlackBerry Smartphones

(In conjunction with our Global partner Morse Inc.,
www.morseusa.com)
Customer: Endo Pharmaceuticals is a market leader
in pain management. Engaged in the research and development,
marketing and sales of branded and generic pain management
treatments. Endo's sales force of just under 700 targets
physicians, retail pharmacies and other healthcare
professionals.
The company has embraced the culture of mobile working and
senior professionals need to be able to stay in touch with the
business while they are away from the office.
Requirement: Within Endo, the process to buy goods
or services from a supplier leads SAP to trigger an email to a
senior manager seeking approval for a purchase requisition.
However,
managers not logged into the Endo system via their laptops would
not have been able to respond and there could be a considerable
time lag between a requisition going in – and a
decision coming back. The key objective is to ensure
a timely response to Purchase Order and Purchase Requisition
requests using BlackBerry smartphones and as such, ensure a truly
mobile workforce. The solution objectives included the
ability to utilise the application when out of network coverage,
and automatically synchronise data to and from SAP when a network
connection is re-established, ensuring both SAP and the
BlackBerry are kept up to date.
Solution: The SkyMobile Workflow Approval
application enables business processes to be executed onto a
BlackBerry smartphone with seamless integration to SAP,
processed background without user intervention. The
application can be developed and ready for deployment in weeks
not months, with the final solution easily rolled out to over 200
users using "over the air" deployment via the BES (BlackBerry
Enterprise Server). Subsequent application updates are
synchronised directly to the BlackBerry from SAP. The
SkyMobile intelligent client allows end users to continue to
operate when out of network coverage, as the application and data
are resident on the device. Synchronisation occurs background
when a network connection is re-established.

Mobile Field Service - Including Mobile EFT

Customer: Rheem Australia Pty Ltd. Rheem
Australia, as a subsidiary of Rheem Manufacturing USA and Paloma
Industries Ltd Japan is part of a world leading organization in
water heater technology and manufacture. The Rheem
(Australia) service division employs 65 technicians across
Australia who install and maintain Rheem water heaters.
Requirement: Rheem had in place a mix of “data
head” technology and two-way voice only radio, enabling information
to be deployed to the technicians in the field. The project was to
not only replace this infrastructure, but deliver innovative
functionality to the field technicians using PDA's. Rheem
needed a mobile solution to enable field service technicians to
receive and process service orders for service or installation,
manage van inventory and process customer payments (including
credit card). This would replace the existing “data
head”.
Solution: The SkyMobile Field Service
solution was implemented to provide the full end-to-end solution
over a GPRS wireless network. By introducing this new
technology manual transposition of data head / phone was
eliminated, as were handwritten field documents. The accuracy
and timeliness of data was greatly enhanced and over 50 technicians
were able to accept credit card payments and print receipts
resulting in more productive field technicians and superior
customer service.
