Overview

Sky Technologies have developed SkyMobile, a SAP certified technology platform to deliver middleware free mobility solutions that are embedded within SAP. SkyMobile operates within SAP using state-of-the-art technology and enables organisations to unify and align people, information, and business processes by seamlessly integrating with SAP and any BlackBerry smartphone device. By extending the reach of your SAP environment to the hands of your employees, you automatically eliminate the distraction, duplication and inevitable delay that third party solutions bring. Frustrations due to ‘black holes’, delays in processing and lost data are eliminated. Middleware is redundant.

Connectivity

The BlackBerry Engine can communicate with the enterprise IT infrastructure in two ways; either directly over the network, or via RIM’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server, using the Mobile Data Service (MDS). The advantage of using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is the ability to leverage the strengths of the BlackBerry platform - such as advanced security features, wireless deployment and all of the centralised management and administration consoles.

On-line / Off-line

SkyMobile supports both real-time and stand-alone modes of operation. Applications can still be made available even if the network is not accessible (for example, if the BlackBerry is out of range or blocked from the network). Automatic data synchronisation ensures that any pending transactions reach the SAP system once connectivity is re-established and the end-to-end transaction management capability of SkyMobile guarantees the delivery, integrity of the data and comprehensive monitoring of the SAP interfaces.
